Wireless light control for professionals

ZigBee makes reliable 1-10V lighting technology flexible

Pressemeldung der Firma dresden elektronik ingenieurtechnik gmbh

Three years ago well-known companies of the lighting industry like Osram, Philips and GE Lighting agreed on using ZigBee as the protocol for wireless networks in the lighting industry and formed the Connected Lighting Alliance. More and more ZigBee-compatible products are entering the market. The wireless profile creates new opportunities: islands of lights can be flexibly formed, modified and given functionalities. Lamp groups can be definded and scenarios created. All available sensors of ZigBee (e.g. daylight, presence and motion sensors) can be used for signal- or time-dependent switching, to dim or control. From the beginning dresden elektronik ingenieurtechnik gmbh has accompanied this development with its own products and is one of the leading ZigBee integrators on the European market following Philips and Osram.

In these days dresden elektronik has presented the new wireless electronic ballast FLS-A lp in a slim low-profile case. The electronic ballast is designed for industrial purposes and enables proven 1-10V systems to use the extended control possibilities of the ZigBee profile. Lamps with 1-10V connections are now getting integrated into the ZigBee network which opens up a wide range of creative options for professional lighting technicians. Wireless lights can be managed using all operating and monitoring options which are standard in the ZigBee world. From a PC or a mobile device, groups can be flexibly configured and a variety of lamps can be dimmed or switched individually or combined. The four channels of the FLS-A allow at least ten lamps to be connected to each depending on the power pack – this means one control device manages 40 lamps in this case. The channels are controlled independently of each other. Depending on your needs the lamps connected to a control can be assigned to groups by channel and differently served. In a very convenient way light can conjure a good feeling, increase performance, represent, and so on. There is no question about the benefits of daylight-based or event-driven control to provide an effective use of energy.

Installation does not require milling cable ducts or laying any cable, easily giving a building intelligent light control. Exisiting lighting systems can be upgraded. The FLS-A is compatible with other ZigBee systems, e.g. Osram Lightify pro.

The product will soon be available in the shop at https://shop.dresden-elektronik.de. The manufacturers would be pleased to answer your questions under wireless@dresden-elektronik.de.

dresden elektronik’s other wireless electronic ballasts include:

FLS-H lp:

The electronic ballast FLS-H lp ensures elegant lamp design. Suitable for monochromatic light sources with antiparallel connected light diodes it creates sophisticated lighting with adjustable color temperature between warm and cold white. The two-wire output is configured as an H-bridge and so particularly important for classy lamp design – the controller works with two instead of three cores.

FLS-PP lp:

Light controls in the RGBW field enable different color intensity and moods, feature a flexible operating concept and can be integrated into existing systems. Compared to light controls from Philips or Osram the FLS-PP lp offers sigificantly more controllable performance and can be used for strips with up to 144 W electrical output. Thus it is possible to illuminate large areas brightly and achieve a higher luminosity. In contrast to Philips the FLS-PP lp is equipped with four instead of three channels. The RGB / RGBW color control allows the continous adjustment of shades ranging from discreet lighter shades up to richly saturated colors. The separately controllable white channel extends the color spectrum for natural colors with a high portion of white. Alongside 12 V also 24 V light sources for professional applications are supported.
